Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)--is a contract between the landowner and the government whereby eligible tillable acres are set aside for conservation and wildlife purposes. The seeded grass must be maintained and weeds must be controlled, the set aside land may be used for hunting. The contract between the landowner and the federal government is for a set number of years and compensation is paid on a per acre basis, the payment per acre varies with the type of soil that is being set aside and is an annual payment.
